Ghidra's (possible inconsistant) use of dword ptr & word ptr

Can anyone explain why Ghidra uses dword ptr on the 2nd MOV statement below? (As, if I'm not mistaken, they're both getting the same value (the contents of the address 0x9a0c), but just assigning it to different registers!)
MOV EAX, [0x9a0c]
MOV EDX, dword ptr [0x9a0c]

Interestingly, when dissassembled using W32Dasm, it used the dword ptr attribute on the 1st and not the 2nd!
