Hello @jlowin As far we tested, 3.0 works well as mentioned in the release notes :) |

We are also planning to pick the fastmcp 3.0.0 version to utilize FileSystemProvider functionality. Could you please let us know the release date so that we can plan our timelines accordingly. |

Same here. We’re also interested in the new Component versioning, VersionFilter, per-component OAuth, and OpenTelemetry integration. |

Hi all - sorry for missing this discussion. We don't have a firm release date for FastMCP 3. Originally we intended a few weeks of beta testing to ensure stability (~mid February); early reports suggest this is going better than expected (in terms of smooth migrations). There have been a large number of excellent contributions/issues since beta 1 was released. The main thing causing uncertainty is that the MCP SDK is preparing a v2 release, which will be breaking. This is expected by the end of February. My preference would be to hold FastMCP v3 until SDK v2 is released, so that we can absorb any breaking changes in the SDK under the cover of FastMCP's own major version change. Otherwise major changes could necessitate a premature release of FastMCP 4. However, I don't think this is worth delaying the release of FastMCP 3 significantly. |
