What Happened? | چه اتفاقی افتاده؟

Hi,

oblivion-desktop potable version:

1- The process "oblivion-helper.exe" never stop even with the option "Stop helper"🤔

2- How to disable "proxy-reset.exe" from running at startup?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\proxy-reset.exe
This is annoying!🙂

3- These files are copied to "C:\Users\xxxxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\oblivion-desktop" directory by default:
masque-plus.exe
oblivion-helper.exe
proxy-reset.exe
usque.exe
warp-plus.exe
zag-netStats.exe

My point is why keeping them in "Oblivion Desktop\resources\assets\bin" then?🤔
I have deleted them in the main directory and there is no issue at all.

1. I will look up into it. nice catch 🫡

2. I'm not sure but it probably implemented to avoid a scenario in which the app crashes and proxy won't let the user to use the internet. most people will have a hard time figuring out what the problem is. but I will try to improve it, so it won't be as annoying as it is.

3. You will face an issue if you have multiple versions of oblivion at the same time 😉

Initially, the files were loaded directly from the resources\assets\bin directory, but the app required administrator privileges to run properly.
To solve this, some of the files are copied to the AppData\Roaming path so the program can run without needing Run as Administrator.

It’s also worth mentioning that since the app isn’t signed, antivirus programs occasionally trigger false positives and remove some files from the Roaming folder. In that case, the app automatically restores them from the bin directory to save the user from extra hassle.

This behavior was implemented in the early releases of Oblivion, and it can probably be improved and structured better in future updates ...

It’s essential for proxy-reset.exe to run during the system’s initial startup to reset any old proxy settings. Many users have reported that if the app is running and the system is shut down or restarted without disconnecting first, the proxy settings remain active and cause connectivity issues afterward.

Unfortunately, none of the Windows event hooks designed to handle this scenario have worked reliably; or at least, all our attempts so far have failed.
That’s exactly why Proxy Reset was born :)

Wouldn’t constantly adding and removing it make antivirus programs more likely to flag it?

FOR TESTING ONLY:
I also have deleted "proxy-reset.exe" from AppData\Roaming.
Still showing up in the registry ,but this time with a missing file path!😕

Well, that's how the application is designed, just because you don't need it doesn't mean it isn't necessary.

I also have deleted "proxy-reset.exe" from AppData\Roaming.

AS previously has been said, it doesn't matter if you delete something from Appdata, it will be repaired.
