Specific user crash

Hi! I added this api request to my discord bot so that people could see how many stars they or other users have on github... but one of my members find that the user "microsoft" crashes the bot when he tries to call the api. So I went to check the link and I found this:

At https://api.github-star-counter.workers.dev/user/microsoft this error appears:

I checked the github of microsoft and I found that they have 5k repositories and a lot of stars 😳

So probably the error is given by all those repositories and the many stars that are on them. I don't know if there are others big profiles with all this repositories or stars that can get an error from the api call... you can fix it or it's impossible to count all those stars?

Oh, now it's not working again

Now I got zero stars and zero friends 😪
But on the positive site, this time it responds with a 200, and a valid JSON structure!

I think OP knows it could be a bit flakey at times, and that's why he included a static pic of a shields.io badge, alongside the dynamic one. But I'd be interested to see what the errors/logs are on the server-side, as I'm sure it's fixable, and I'd like to help :)

Ah, I think I see the issue, it's in handler.ts.

For user's with a higher repo count, then it hits the GitHub API rate limits. The solution, is just to give it a GitHub API key. Also, GitHub API likes you to set a user agent on requests too.

Update this bit of code, and it should work

Then, you can (optionally) specify the GITHUB_TOKEN, and you won't get rate-limited.

You can get the GitHub token from https://github.com/settings/tokens/new
Then, in Cloudflare, go to your worker in Workers & Pages → Settings tab → Scroll to Environment Variables → Add variable/secret, and paste the token and name it GITHUB_TOKEN.
Alternativley, it goes under the [vars] section of your wrangler.toml, like GITHUB_TOKEN = "xxxxx"
