Privacy Policy for NativeTavern

Introduction

NativeTavern ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Character Data: Characters, personas, and world information you create or import
  • Chat Data: Conversations, messages, and chat histories you generate
  • User Preferences: App settings, themes, and configurations you select
  • Media Files: Images, backgrounds, and sprites you upload or generate

Automatically Collected Information

  • App Usage Data: Features used and interactions within the app (stored locally only)
  • Device Information: App version, operating system version (for crash reporting only)

How We Use Information

All data you create or input into NativeTavern is:

  • Stored Locally: All your data is stored exclusively on your device
  • Not Transmitted: We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on our servers
  • User-Controlled: You have complete control over your data through backup and export features

Third-Party Services

NativeTavern may integrate with third-party AI services if you choose to configure them:

  • AI API Providers: If you configure external AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), your API credentials and chat data may be transmitted to these providers according to their privacy policies
  • User Control: These integrations are entirely optional and require you to provide your own API credentials
  • No Default Connections: The app does not connect to any external services by default

Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All data is stored in your device's local database
  • No Cloud Sync: We do not provide cloud storage or synchronization services
  • User Backups: You can create manual backups of your data, which are stored locally on your device or exported to your chosen location
  • Data Encryption: Data stored on your device benefits from your device's built-in security features

Data Sharing

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information
  • Share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • Transmit your chat data or character information to our servers
  • Track your usage across other apps or websites

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data stored in the app through the app interface
  • Delete: Remove any or all data through the app's settings
  • Export: Create backups and export your data in standard formats (JSON, TXT, PDF)
  • Control: Manage all app permissions through your device settings

Children's Privacy

NativeTavern does not knowingly collect or store information from children under 13 years of age. The app requires users to be at least 13 years old. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to the app should contact us immediately.

Data Retention

  • User-Controlled: Data is retained on your device until you choose to delete it
  • No Automatic Deletion: We do not automatically delete your data
  • App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data from your device

International Users

Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data remains in your jurisdiction and is subject to your local laws and regulations.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Providing in-app notifications for significant changes

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

Permissions

The app may request the following permissions:

  • Storage: To save and read your character data, chat histories, and backups
  • Camera (optional): To capture or select images for character avatars
  • Microphone (optional): For speech-to-text features if configured
  • Internet (optional): Only if you configure external AI services

All permissions are requested only when needed and can be revoked through your device settings.

Note for App Store Review: NativeTavern is a local-first application that stores all user data exclusively on the user's device. We do not operate any servers that collect, store, or process user data. Any connections to external services are user-initiated and optional, using the user's own API credentials.
