Can't submit the GitHub Education Student Verification Form (Red Triangle, No Error Message)

Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education Team,

I am experiencing a persistent technical issue while trying to submit my GitHub Education Student verification.

Here is exactly what I have done:

1. I clicked “Start an application” and selected Student.
2. I signed in using my institutional email, which is already verified in my GitHub account..
3. On the page “Please select the type of proof you would like to provide”, I selected “Dated enrollment letter on school letterhead” and uploaded my official enrollment certificate issued by my university.
4. Next, on the page “Why are you not on campus?”, I selected: ✔ “All coursework is via distance learning”. In the explanation field, I wrote: “Currently attending classes via distance learning mode.”.
5. For additional proof, I uploaded a screenshot of my official student portal.

Despite completing all fields correctly, the page reloads with a red warning triangle and no error message. I have tried:

• Different browsers
• Incognito mode
• Clearing cache
• Desktop and mobile
• Disabling extensions
• Allowing camera permissions

The issue persists, so I believe this is a technical error on the platform, not a problem with my documents.

Because of this, I would like to kindly request an alternative route to submit my verification, since the standard application form is currently blocking me.

I would highly appreciate guidance on any alternative method to complete my application, such as:

• Email submission of documents
• Manual review
• A direct link to a different form
• Or any temporary workaround

Hello! I had a similar problem when trying to take a photo of a physical document during the application. I ended up scanning the document with a simple PDF scanner app and uploading that instead, which solved the issue for me. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it already :)

How were you able to use that app to scan PDFs? I mean, it only lets me activate the camera.

Hi @Daniela-11,

Usually this issue is solved by submitting the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC or by changing the extension of the file submitted from PNG to JPG or viceversa.

These users solved it by using the phone: #162877, #168688, #175904

If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and explain your problem.
