In 2026, I am committing to not being afraid of my computer and learning new skills. I want to be the old dog that learns new tricks. ੯•໒꒱ |

💖 2026 Dev Valentine 💖// My 2026 commitment:
const goal = "finally launch that side project! 🚀";
// ❤️ Heartbeat simulation
const heart = ["💓", "💗", "💖", "💗", "💓"];
console.log("Let's make our heart (and skills) beat this year!");
heart.forEach(h => console.log(`${h} ${goal}`)); |

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we thought it would be fun to borrow the idea of “commitment” and bring it into a dev context. 💻 ❤️
Every year, there’s usually something we keep coming back to. A language we want to learn. A project we want to start. A skill we want to get better at. Something we’ve been meaning to give more attention to.
So here’s the question for this thread:
What are you ready to commit to in 2026?
It can be big or small. Maybe you want to finally build that side project. Maybe you want to contribute to open source. Maybe you’re focusing on testing, performance, system design, or getting more comfortable with a new stack.
If it helps, you can frame it like this:
“In 2026, I’m committing to ______.”
🤖 Try this with Copilot
If you already know what you want to focus on this year, drop your goal into Copilot and see what it generates as a starting point.
Here are a few prompts you can copy, paste, and adapt:
Turn a goal into a project idea
I want to learn/build/explore ____ in 2026. Suggest 3 small project ideas I can build to practice this.
Create a first version
Help me design a simple “v1” version of a project focused on [your goal]. Include core features and a basic structure.
Learning path
I want to get better at [skill/tech]. Propose a hands-on learning plan using small, buildable projects.
Starter README
Write a README for a personal project where I’m learning [tech/skill] throughout 2026.
If you try one of these, feel free to share:
💬 Your turn
What are you committing to in 2026?
Share anything you’re planning to learn, build, explore, or get better at this year. And if you tried one of the Copilot prompts above, feel free to tell us which direction it helped you take.
