Hi everyone,

I’m a student at Shri Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic, Mumbai
(computer engg, 2023–2026).
I applied for GitHub Student Developer Pack and GitHub Copilot for Students,
but my application was denied multiple times even though:

• My GitHub name matches my ID exactly
• I uploaded a very clear image of my valid student ID card
• The card shows my name, course and validity 2023–2026

I’ve tried reapplying and also updated my profile, but I keep getting denied.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue and got this resolved?
Also, does GitHub manually review student verification if you contact support?

Hey, I’ve seen a few folks run into the same issue. GitHub Education can be a bit strict with verification — even if the ID looks clear to us, sometimes they reject it if:

• The document isn’t in English (they often ask for a translated version).
• The ID doesn’t explicitly show enrollment dates or current validity.
• The school name doesn’t match their database exactly.

A couple of things that have helped others:

• Try uploading an additional document like a transcript or a bonafide certificate from your college.
• Make sure the image is high‑resolution and all text is readable.
• If your ID is in another language, add an English translation alongside it.

And yes, if you contact GitHub Education support directly, they do manually review cases. People have reported that after opening a support ticket, their application was approved once they provided extra proof.

To answer your question: yes, GitHub Support can manually review student verification cases. If you haven’t already, I strongly recommend opening a support ticket and including:

• A clear photo of your student ID
• A brief explanation of the repeated denials
• Any additional proof of enrollment (e.g., admission letter, fee receipt, or official portal screenshot)

Make sure the document clearly shows:

• Your full name
• Institution name
• Current enrollment status
• A valid date (2023–2026)

Manual review is often the fastest way to resolve repeated automatic denials.

What if the school I’m applying for has incorrect information that requires updating?
