macOS - Eddie stable 2.24.6 - Openvpn/wireguard/wg executables do not run at all due to file permission issue

Have tried both DMG and zip downloads.

The Eddie GUI runs fine, but it will not connect to any server, using either Auto protocol (i.e. Wireguard, which strangely does not appear in the manual list at all) or OpenVPN.

It gets stuck in a continual Disconnecting/Restart connection loop.

Quite curious about this as others have reported in the forum that the Mac version works fine for them.

On inspection of Eddie logs, it seems the executables do not have the correct permissions (not owned by root):

I have manually chown'd the files to root ownership and this fixes the problem.

Same problem for me with a fresh macOS 15.7.3 install. Previous stable release worked perfectly. I can see other users have the same issue on the forums. Having to manually change file permissions in the Terminal is not a solution.

I'm extremely surprised that this report has had zero reply from the developers (it was reported in Jan 2025) and has still not been fixed at the time of writing.

Is this not a critical issue? Is macOS no longer a priority? I am using the official macOS WireGuard client instead, with no issues., and will seek another VPN provider after my subscription ends. I no longer have confidence in AirVPN.
