This is not possible with file shortcuts / *.lnk files:

But it should be possible, because JabRef can open the Shortcut.

Hi @koppor, I apologize for not assigning myself to this issue earlier! It seems like a pure coincidence of timing.I’ve been working on a local implementation over the last couple of hours and just finished verification as the issue was being assigned.

@Carlos-Chong200, I’m really sorry about the overlap! I’ve actually gone ahead and implemented a PowerShell based resolution in FileUtil so that the .lnk target is correctly resolved to the actual .bib file before the app tries to open it. This prevents the binary parsing errors that occur when the system treats a .lnk file as plain text.
