Gzip compression support for requests

#1473 added code to handle gzip-compressed responses received from ES, but is there a way to send compressed requests, for example bulk requests?

@sksamuel Any thoughts on this? I'm wondering if this could improve ingestion performance.

It might be enabled by default. If not, if you want to open a PR to add the option I can do a release.
