Debian 13 Changes

The new release of Debian 13 (Trixie) and the very newly released Raspberry Pi OS (which is Debian based) has quietly made some changes that are a departure from the past. Not Trunk-Recorder related, but the last command for looking at previous logins is gone and one must manually install lastlog2 to see previous logins (lastlog2 includes the last command for backwards compatibility).

What is Trunk-Recorder related is that the sources.list file has moved, is renamed, and has taken on a new format. I'm not yet sure how this will be used for the Trunk-Recorder installation, but information on the new sources.list file, now named debian.sources can be found here: https://askmeaboutlinux.com/2025/08/13/how-to-add-repositories-to-sources-list-file-in-debian-13/.

A pull request #1042 is already in the works to address this update. Have you encountered any other concerns during the upgrade?

Thank you sir! My apologies, I didn't realize this was already a known issue, therefore, I am closing this issue. I have not seen any other concerns, mainly because I haven't been able to get past the new sources.list format. If I do run into something, I'll report back if I don't see it already posted. I opted in that PR to edit the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.sources file as these are PI instructions. We could also make Trunk-Recorder.sources in that same directory and have the contents of the edit placed there, but I don't want to litter. I don't know if there is an established best practice as this is sort of a new format. I'll ask the Raspberry Pi people and Debian people what their feeling is.

I did a completely fresh Raspberry Pi install using the Oct 1st release of Raspberry Pi OS 64 Lite based on Debian 13 (Trixie) and I can confirm that both the new sources format in #1042 work, and there is no longer a need to uninstall dkms-xtra. Unfortunately, the older issue of the "sticking" UIDs on my local P25P2 system is still present (#836). Thanks again.
