Cura Crash on attempting to paint seam on a replaced model

Reproduction steps

1. Open Cura
2. Load an STL
3. Activate the Paint Tool
4. Select Mesh Tool > Replace Model...
5. Load the new STL file
6. Move mouse over new model
7. Cura crashes even before the Paint Tool can be used

Actual results

Cura crashes even before the Paint Tool can be used

Expected results

Cura should prepare the Paint Tool for the replacement model on load

I do believe this fits better as a helpful note for the Mesh Tool plugin. If you have a way of reproducing the issue without the plugin I can raise a ticket for the Cura side.

I agree we are firmly in the niche usage case scenario. The only other time I've trigged the crash (so far) is if I do a reload on the same model following modification in my CAD S/W & overwriting the original STL but this was also when the Paint Tool was active on the original version of the loaded model when I did the reload. I haven't had it happen when the Paint Tool wasn't active... yet ;-)

I can reproduce this without Mesh Tools loaded. Everything seems to be OK until I select the "Paint Tool" with the "reloaded" model on the build plate.

• Load a model.
• Right-click and select "Reload all Models".
• Select the model and then the Paint Tool.
• If that doesn't do it, then try to slice.

The problem appears to be related directly to the Paint Tool. Simply selecting the reloaded model with the Paint Tool active causes a crash. Switching from "Preview" to "Prepare" after using the paint tool with the reloaded model also causes Cura to crash.

The log file makes no mention of a problem.

I vote this gets dumped in Erwan's lap.
