ipscaner linux closes when open settings

arco linux and some others are having this problem.
ipscan will start then and will scan on newer os's it will not list mac for each ip.
when you click on the right top icon to open the selector. the window doesn't open and ipscan just closes.
if you copy settings from another file, it will then edit that file and work. but no mac's are displayed. just [n/a].
all of my fetchers work except wol mac.

it helps to copy, from a working ipscan. /home/user/.java/.userPrefs/ipscan/.userPrefs/ipscan/
make sure it is set up the way you wont. i don't know if theirs is a ipscan or a openjdk problem.

I loaded a copy of that directory from an old snapshot when it was working. Still crashes. I deleted the directory and start ipscan and it starts but then settings still crashes.

wait a minute. there was a lock file in the .userPrefs and I deleted it and now settings dialog opened without a crash. A new lockfile was created.

then I close and open again and it again crashes. Don't know if creating the lock file is normal but seems to be the issue.

Yea now repeating this again it crashes. does not create ipscan directory, does create a .userRoot ModFile.user file

I am going to update my machine and see if that fixes things. Ipscan version won't change but maybe java updating will help?

i didn't say it would fix the problem. it is usable from my point.
if you have a working prefs.xml , and replace the one on the computer your having issue with it will work. it doesn't fixthe problem, it just gets you away from trying to edit the file.
my prefs.xml mainly is featchers so i can wol (wakeonlan), vncviewer , ssh. ipscan works fine as long as you don't try to run the config prefs.xml file.

i think personalty something has changed in arch java , i have tried several versions of java from arch, and it the same thing everytime.

something was going on with gtk the fix at least for me was:
sudo pacman -S ibus

yes loading that package fixed it. This happened after after an update so possible the ibus package was removed as an orphan. Not sure why install of ipscan from AUR didn't know to check for this but it doesn't so a reinstall (which I did) did not fix the missing package.

For my and others education I asked the AI and here is apparently the reason why this works to resolve the issue.
