The plugins is missing in the cluster helm chart

Since the barmanObjectStore is being deprecated, this feature is currently not available in the cluster Helm chart.
In the values file of the cluster chart, the expected configuration is:

  plugins:
  - name: barman-cloud.cloudnative-pg.io
    isWALArchiver: true

You're correct—the plugins feature is not yet available in the cluster Helm chart. The chart currently only supports the legacy barmanObjectStore method, which is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. If you want to use the Barman Cloud Plugin, you need to follow the manual migration process described in the official migration guide. There is ongoing work to add plugin support to the chart (PR #598), but as of now, there is no official example or template for configuring the plugins section in the values file. You can track progress and related discussions in issue #606 and issue #575 in the charts repository.

@dosu none of the issues you mentioned are solving this issue, we now have a chart for barman plugin, so we can install it.
But when creating a cluster with the chart we cannot define backups via the barman plugin, because the cluster chart is missing the part mentioned in the first post.

As barmanObjectStore is deprecated, it really is essential that we have that option also in the Cluster Helm Chart!

I would like to add that the backup section of the cluster chart doesn't support (as far as I know) the method: plugin. It's limited for now to badmanObjectStore and volumeSnapshot. We need this new method to make the whole working.

Indeed, whenever you use cnpg plugin with kubectl, it all the time complains you must switch to barman plugin. But that inquires helm chart rewrite to support that.

I was just trying to set up backups and was desperately searching for the possibility to add plugins.

It seems a bit odd to deprecate the current backup functionality but not to support the new one in one of the officially supported installation methods.
