@gustavo-iniguez-goya thanks for adding this on the list for 1.7.0! Qt5 is moving towards EOL, and many of the pyqt5/pyside5 tools don#t even support python 3.13 anymore (which will become default in nixpkgs soon, where i am the maintainer of opensnitch).

Sooo no Qt6 in 1.7.0? Sad. We'll soon be on python 3.13 in nixpkgs, with which various pyqt5 things break. I was really hoping to get opensnitch to qt6 before then...

hey @LordGrimmauld , as far as I can tell, PyQt5 works with python 3.13, at least on Fedora and Debian.

What's the deadline before PyQt5 is removed from NixOS?

The plan is to drop as much of qt5 as possible until November this year. PyQT6 sadly is a terrible mess. I might try porting to pyside6 if that is an effort that would be appreciated.
Also sorry, pyqt5 does indeed work on 3.13 - pyside2 (the other qt5 python binding library) does not. I got the two confused! As such, there is no immediate breakage with the (currently staged) python 3.13 update.

good news then :) . I'll start working on the port soon.

Regarding PyQt6 vs PySide2 I have no opinion on the matter. Nowadays both are available on all distros, both (l)gpl, ... so no problem on that aspect. For now I'll port it to PyQt6 since that's what I'm familiar with.

Well, I didn't expect to port it this soon, but it's almost done. I just need to do more testinge and resolve a few issues with the themes.

Nice work! I am currently losing my mind over the 1.7.0.0 update - everything except ebpf works, and that doesn't give me logs either...

I promise i'll test your dev branch once i get past the 1.7 mess, and thank you for your amazing work :)

feel free to open a Discussion post in order to analyze why it doesn't work. I changed the lib from gobpf to Cilium, which doesn't write the hooks to /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/, so it's a bit more difficult to tell if everything is in place.

After a full day of bisecting, poking kernel modules, reading code and trying to understand what is happening, i finally found the issue with my 1.7.0.0 update: #1357

Ah okay there is no public qt6 branch yet, so can't actually test/review anything. Oh well.
