So, that's kinda by design... The way it was built is that if you want to use the same image for a thing, you'd use an asset model image. If an asset has no individual image associated, the model image will be used instead. We designed it that was so you're not duplicating hundreds of the same image on your filesystem, especially in cases where a more generic image works fine.

Can you give me a few use cases where copying an individual asset image for a new asset would make sense? We could potentially add it as an optional checkbox if the use case fits.

Even when duplicating the asset models, the image is not duplicated.
I am in a situation to duplicate the asset models, as I have different depreciation floor values for the same model.
My floor values are calculated as a % of the purchase price.
When we buy the same model repeatedly over a span of time, the Purchase Price changes and this becomes a necessity.

There is a checkbox to delete the image. If we leave it unchecked the image should be duplicated.
But irrespective of the state of the checkbox the image is always deleted.
