mise use clang@version fails or takes over 20 minutes before it finally freezes my laptop

Having some issue installing clang using mise.

mise version:
2026.2.10 linux-x64 (2026-02-12)

Here's the error message:

Sometimes I don't get this message and it continues to install up to [1524 / 4096] before it crashes my system.

I tested this out by making sure nothing else was running on my system other than the terminal with the mise use clang command.

conda is the default backend for clang now so you can uninstall asdf-llvm plugin

How do I do that?

I've already uninstalled clang

❯ mise plugins uninstall clang
~
❯ mise plugins remove clang

mise WARN  clang is not installed

Here are the plugins I have:

I used this command (which took just under 3 minutes):

MISE_EXPERIMENTAL=1 mise use conda:clang-format@21.1.8

This one took only a few seconds:
MISE_EXPERIMENTAL=1 mise use conda:clang-format@21.1.8

My mise.toml file:

[tools]
"conda:clang" = "21.1.8"
"conda:clang-format" = "21.1.8"

I noticed that when I tried this (without specifying conda), this one below still tried to build clang from source so I cancelled it.
MISE_EXPERIMENTAL=1 mise use clang-format@21.1.8.
