It seems the issue is that the documentation is outdated vs the upstream.

Thanks for catching this! The config loader expects mcp_servers to be a table-of-tables keyed by server name ([mcp_servers.]), but the README example was using an array-of-tables ([[mcp_servers]]), which leads to
the “invalid type: sequence” error you hit.

Please update your config to the keyed-table form:

[mcp_servers.filesystem]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem", "/path/to/project"]
