!= not working in any text field (was: login to ssh session)

Trying to login to a ssh session with password
xxx!=yyy
produces: see screenshot

Therefore session failed with invalid credentials.

This '!=' is part of my password and not the math meaning for "not equal". ;-)

It seems that every text field is affected.

!= is always translated to not equal
