Support FSKit API in macFUSE

Is it possible to support the new FSKit API backend for macFUSE so ifuse can be used on macOS without requiring the kernel extension? The FSKit backend was added to macFUSE 5.1.x but is not currently the default so it looks like ifuse would need to expose an option to configure it. From FUSE Backends:

By default, macFUSE uses the VFS API to mount file systems. When specifying the mount-time option -o backend=fskit, macFUSE will use FSKit to mount the file system.

You can literally pass fuse options on the command line:
ifuse -o backend=fskit /themountpoint

Well, I guess I was tired or something, I had tried ifuse --help but apparently missed the -o opt right there 🤦‍♂️

I tried this (-o backend=fskit) and it prompts me to enable the file system extensions (rather than the kernel extension). After doing so, running the command again results in this:

mount: Loading resource: The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.extensionKit.errorDomain error 2.)
mount: File system named macfuse not found
Failed to mount volume: mount(8) returned 69

ChatGPT thinks that 'macfuse' is the name of the kernel file system and 'fusefs' or something else should be used here but no idea if that's correct.

I should mention that I installed ifuse using brew install gromgit/fuse/ifuse-mac (from here) since the normal ifuse installed by brew is Linux-only. Also installed libimobiledevice and macFUSE using brew.

brew install libimobiledevice
brew install macfuse
brew install gromgit/fuse/ifuse-mac
