No app's show up

I hope someone can help point me in the right direction.

Info about my system:
macOS 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a)
Latest Version 0.9 (935)

I know I have app's that needs to be updated, but when I open Latest, it's view is just empty.

The cockwheel in the upper right, just keeps spinning and I have also left the app running for more the 30 minutes, which did not do anything.

I've tried to install it from brew, which gives the same result. So I thought that I might try to install it as a standalone app, which is downloaded from the website and opened. That also gave the same result.

Is there a way to debug it, so I can find the course of why I does not show any app's?

@mangerlahn thanks. It's been working fine since macOS was upgraded to 14.4.1
FYI, this is not the first time I've experienced this issue. Last year the issue was resolved after one of the macOS upgrades, can't remember which one. I'll give the above version a go.

@mangerlahn Just tried it and it's not working. As I've mentioned in my previous message, the original version 0.10.3 (1190) has been working fine since macOS 14.4.1 upgrade.

Looking at the current code and some of the older related changes, I think this may already be fixed, but I cannot say that with full confidence yet.

The strongest signal is that Latest no longer relies on the old Spotlight-based app discovery path that caused earlier Ventura-era failures where no apps would show up. The project already picked up two older fixes in this area:

• fallback to filesystem search if Spotlight returns nothing
• filesystem search if Spotlight returns only the Safari app on Ventura

So if the root cause behind this issue was the same general discovery failure mode, then it is very likely already addressed in the current codebase.

That said, this issue was reported after those fixes already existed, so it may also have overlapped with a different startup/scan failure mode rather than only the old Spotlight behavior.

Because of that, two newer open PRs are also relevant here:

• #565 hardens directory monitoring and startup resilience when scan paths cannot be observed
• #566 improves cached startup state and keeps directory scans responsive instead of leaving the window empty while work is still ongoing

So my current assessment would be:

• the original Spotlight-related cause is probably already fixed
• if this issue was actually a broader startup / scanning / observation problem, then Combine directory monitoring fixes into one implementation #565 and Improve cached startup state and keep directory scans responsive #566 likely improve or fully address it as well

I would be hesitant to close this as definitively fixed without either reproducing it on the affected macOS version again or getting confirmation from someone who previously hit it, but I do think there is a good chance it has already been resolved by the work above.
