Current Behavior

Hi,

it seems there is a memleak somewhere...
(And also when nzbget dumps files to the disk, there are some spikes).
Is anybody else seeing this?

Yes, I’m aware of the memory leak issue. It’s a high priority for me to resolve.

Fixed some memory leaks here. However, dynamic sanitizers indicate further leaks in OpenSSL when encrypted connections are used.
I’m continuing to investigate and will keep this issue open until everything is resolved.

OpenSSL 3.1.4 is still used when i check the libraries.. That version is End-of-life.
Update to 3.5.0 that version is the newest LTS release.. Support till 2030

I tested with OpenSSL 3.4 and encountered the same issues. The problem could be in continued use of the older OpenSSL 1.x API for resource allocation and deallocation, but I'm not curtain. Modern OpenSSL 3.x provides more efficient and potentially safer mechanisms for this. I need to investigate this area more thoroughly to ensure any changes don’t break anything.
I’m also considering Boost.Asio as a cross-platform solution for handling sockets and TLS connections, which could simplify the code base.
Dependency updates, including upgrading OpenSSL, are planned for the upcoming v25 release.

I haven’t looked into it yet, but I will soon. Just wanted to fix some old and simple bugs for relaxing before starting something real big.

One info that I can also give is, it seems when it download and cannot write a file to disk, it allocates for the next file a part of memory that is the size of the article cache instead of only the size the file is it cannot dump... (clear enough what I wrote?)
