This appears to be a client side issue, affecting only iPadOS and IOS devices when using any browser, (Chrome/Brave, Firefox, Safari) on iPadOS/IOS 22.x & 23.

Current Behavior

This issue occured after the upgrade from nzget 25.x to 26.0 stable. Prior to the upgrade the file dialogue window worked correctly.

When trying to add a nzb file for download, via the normal web interface for nzbget, on an IOS/iPadOS device, when you click on "Add Files" the file explorer window dialogue box opens, but all files are greyed out. I am unable to select and upload any .nzb file. No file is selectable, even those with a .nzb extension. see attachment.

When connecting to the same nzbget instance using a Windows client, with any browser, the file explorer window dialogue box works as expected and you can select any file as required

Expected Behavior

When trying to add a nzb file for download, via the normal web interface for nzbget, on an IOS/iPadOS device, you click on "Add Files" the file explorer window dialogue box opens, any file should be selectable.

Steps To Reproduce

Within an iPadOS/IOS device open browser
Navigate to normal hsoted NZBGET web page
Click Add files
You will see you cannot select any file to add nzb file from the local iPAD/iPhone device.

Hi, I wasn't able to reproduce this on my end using an iPhone. Could you provide a few more details about your server-side setup?

• What NAS model and OS version are you running NZBGet on?
• Is there a Reverse Proxy (e.g., Nginx, Traefik) or a VPN involved?
• Also, please clarify iOS/iPadOS version "iPadOS and IOS devices ... on iPadOS/IOS 22.x & 23."?

The NAS is a Synology DS920, running DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 1.

nzget version is 26.0 stable. The problem only occured after the update from 25.x

There is no reverse proxy or VPN's involved this is all via my LAN. Simple connection to NAS server over port 6789.

IOS is 26.3 as is IpadOS 26.3. The problem also occured within IOS 18.7 iPadOS 18.7.

I have also have an older iPad Pro, running 17.7.10 which I have never used with nzbget before. This also exhibits the same behaviour, when using Safari, I haven't tried any other browsers, all files greyed out for selection.

One error that I do see is when using the Brave browser (1.86.144 Chromium 144.0.7559.97 64-bit) within IOS on iPhone and iPadOS on iPad, I see the attached error message on the main user interface. I don't see this error message within the Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers. No idea if that is connected or not?

Is there any chance you have multiple user setup (like restricted-user)?
Could you try a separate clean NZBGet v26 installation?

Sorry I am not sure what you mean by multiple users? Is that on the iPad/iPhone, NAS or within NZBGET? Either way I only have a single user on each device and a single default nzbget user.

The problem feels like the nzbget file dialogue window has some form of filtering applied that will only allow certain files to display. Is there that sort of restriction in place that changed within 26.0? For a test I renamed a file on my iPad and also iPhone to be a simple name.nzb, but that didn’t help :-(. If I try using another web service, like a webmail page for example, I can happily select any file for attachment, using the same file selection dialogue window. That’s using the same iPad/iPhone and any browser.

I don’t have the option for a separate clean install. I have just uninstalled (keeping config files) and then reinstalled, unfortunately the problem remains. Is there any way to roll-back from 26.0 Stable to the previous 25.x release?

After further testing I have discovered that if I renamed my .nzb file as a .zip file, I can then select the file via the "Add Files" window on my iPad and iPhone. It obviously doesn't load properly as it isn't a real zip file, but it does show the file selection via Add Files is working, sort of! In my view, it looks like there is some background filtering that is excluding all files from being selectable from the "Add Files" window, except for .zip files.

When using aWindows based browser (Chrome/Brave/Edge etc) you have a filter option based on the extension, this isn't shown on the iPhone/iPad versions. Could there be bug there preventing .nzb files being selectable in IOS devices?

As I mentioned initially, this issue only arose with version 26.0. It was fine in 25.x

Hi @dnzbk, I am not sure how I would install this file on my Synology NAS. Is this a MAC OSX kit?

@gav28uk Ah, my mistake. I missed the Synology NAS part. Here is the Linux test build:

@dnzbk, OK, so installed it as a separate instance, stopped the existing nzbget service and then ran this new version in console mode on my Synology NAS. The issue remains unfortunately, however, I can now also select .XML files as well as .ZIP files, so progress of sorts. I remain unable to select actual .nzb files, although looking at an nzb file it is actually an xml file 🤷🏼‍♂️.

@gav28uk Thanks for taking the time to test this. I'll keep investigating.
Meanwhile, could you see if dragging and dropping an .nzb file directly into the download queue works on your device?
Also, when the upload screen opens, check if there is a Format option like there is on macOS. If so, switching it from Custom Files to All Files might unlock it.

@dnzbk, OK, so on both 26.0 stable and your version, on my iPad and iPhone I can drag and drop .nzb files into the Download Queue. This is good to know as a workaround for me :-) Also, by renaming the .nzb to an .xml file, I can then also select it via "Add Files" and it is added to the download queue. So another workaround which is good to know.

The window I see on iPad and iPhone when clicking on "Add Files" does not include any option for file extension filtering at all, which I am sure is linked to the problem. It's as if there is a some hidden default filtering taking place that is allowing only .zip files to be selectable on the 26.0 stable version and .zip & .xml files on the 26.1 test version. I provided a screen shot of what I see on the initial bug report above.
