It seems that you are using the default application (which uses Django ORM) and the Mongoengine one, that's not compatible, and in this case the mongoengine application is overriding the models definition and failing when trying to connect to MongoDB.

You're right, would you be able to point me on to how to address this, please?

I've configured mongoengine and added all the settings. I've also downgraded django to 1.7 Now I seemed to have made a work around this one, so I'll close it, I'm having another issue now though.
