Is this project dead?

OpenSearch 3 was released several months ago. The Java library has a release cadence of every few months it seems.

.NET client library is so out of date (last release was 2024!), it's hard to be able to use any new OpenSearch features. Last meaningful PR was done maybe in July 2025.

What's the future of this library? Should we not be using .NET with OpenSearch?

Would be really good to get an answer on this, need to understand if it is acceptable to still be building projects on dotnet. I appreciate it's a small team btw, and so you are split between so much.

Hi @ccurrens , obviously, I share your sentiment since I commented on this issue originally. Essentially what's happened is the project has lost a couple of maintainers, I raised this with the opensearch team and I've now been added as a maintainer. A fairly substantial backlog has built up in that time of course, so it will take me some time to get used to things, get up to speed with release processes and the codebase etc. But, it's definitely a priority of mine to get this compatible with OpenSearch 3.x, I just can't promise a timeline on it. I'll get back to you when I can.
