enable rechunking is not as simple as the readme suggests

I have been trying to enable the image rechunking as described in the README. However, it seems that "/usr/libexec/bootc-base-imagectl" in the rechunk step is a non existent binary.

My base image is ublue-os/main-nvidia, but also I also inspected ublue-nvidia-open and see that the binary does not exists in either image.

The referenced zirconium project bases there build on quay.io/fedora/fedora-bootc:43, which does include this binary.

ublue-os/bluefin-nvidia-open:stable	does not exist
quay.io/fedora/fedora-bootc:43	exists

• Is there a plan to support rechunking in ublue-os?
• are there any other recommendations?
• is it worth updating the README?
• or did I just miss something?
• is this the right place for the issue?

It would be nice if the rechunk step was included in the build.yml by default, but commented out as optional. Same as the signing/sbom steps (which also don't seem to work for me ootb).

We're still waiting for the bootc rechuncker to land that's all just a placeholder.

Should have added, the reason we don't want to recommend hhd-dev rechunker is that it's incompatible with the future upstream rechunker. tldr, if you start to use that you're stuck with it and can't rebase off it it.

Bluefin and Bluefin LTS images are stuck this way, but we're working with the bootc team to fix all this but it's ongoing work. So this is more to future proof you than anything else.
