UPDATE: This seems to be fixed by turning "Use Ligatures" off.
(My question about resetting Zoom level still applies.)

Editing a Markdown file (in the buffer that is, nothing to do with Markdown preview)
Sometimes bold is text rendered as ordinary, non-bold
Sometimes it is styled in italics.
Sometimes pinching to zoom with the trackpad will render things correctly.
Sometimes deleting the line and immediately undoing the delete will fix the error.
If it doesn't, adding an additional letter to the start of the word might.
I am using an Dell non-retina LCD monitor screen, but turning font-smoothing off/on doesn't seem to make it any more predictable.
related question: with pinch to zoom, is there a way to reset the zoom level?
(i.e. to whatever 100% is supposed to be… WIndow > Zoom doesn't appear to do anything.)
Thanks!
