Yearly refresh of OSM maps data?

Hello! MapManager shows Germany maps dated October 2024. Are there plans / pipeline in place for at least yearly update of the OSM map data for the PureMaps?

Good question - haven't had a time and will not do it before September. Try to ping at the end of September if I haven't done it by that time

Hi @rinigus - quick check-in on this. MapManager still shows Germany maps dated 2024 on my Librem5.

Is a (semi-) yearly OSM data refresh planned, and is there anything I can test/provide to help?

yes, it is planned, but no dates are set. I am busy with my new port for SFOS and it took already a year to make it. there are still things to do and I don't expect to finish it before couple of months more. so, unless someone takes it over, some wait is needed.

Understood, thanks for the update. Is there a documented process to refresh/build the map packages so a Linux user (Librem 5) can self-update the Germany maps? If you can point me to scripts or docs, I’m happy to run the pipeline locally and report back.

But then maybe discussion should go there as well. I wonder whether users could organize the imports :)

I'm not sure I understood, but is PureMaps OSM data really outdated for more than a year? If the issue is to be able to generate tiles, maybe that infrastructure could be shared with CoMaps?

Yep, looks like maps are outdated for over a year, tiles generation is advanced-level self-service for the brave ones.

As you could see, instructions on how to generate new data were posted and referred to above. I have been working on other projects and didn't take time to run it. Maybe will try to do it soon, but hard to promise any deadlines.
