Based on discussion during the TS-DACS call, there was a suggestion to clarify language surrounding the "verifiability" of facts. Perhaps we could use "based on documented information" instead? I really liked Maristella's example of the "father of the electric guitar". |

Removing the guideline language as that means something else to standards.

Can the collection itself be regarded as a verifiable source? I source many biographical events and facts from the collection, especially when the creator or subject is not well-known or documented in published literature. I include such material based on volume of documentation in the collection, i.e. if there are seven boxes of files regarding a particular event or project, I discuss it in the bio, especially if the event is little discussed or documented elsewhere. |

While I do not have concerns about the content of the proposed additions, I think they might be better placed elsewhere in DACS 2.7. The guidelines in points 1 and 2 are applicable to both biographical and administrative history notes, so it may make more sense to have them in under the broader heading of "Rules for Biographical Historical Notes Done Within the Description" section (2.7.5-2.7.9). Similarly, the final point in the proposed revision might be better included as an expansion of 2.7.4 on the sources of information for these notes. |
