Why can't show month and week day together in the icon.

When I select "show month in the icon" and "show day of week in icon" together, it only shows "Aug 27" in icon.
When I select "show day of week in icon" only, it shows "27, Wed".
This is same behaviour with my mac system control center.
Why ?

When you choose "Show day of week in icon" it should show a day name like Mon, Tue, Wed, etc. It will always show the numerical date (27). So you can optionally show the month and/or the day of the week in addition to the numerical date.
