Yocto failing on 01076a6 due to fontique

I don't think this is a slint issue, but I am curious why it fails on this particular commit when using meta-rust-bin compiling for a toradex apalis imx8. @ogoffart any ideas? Commit 01076a6

Could you try with commit 2dd3da6 ? That commit (and some before that) should've fixed the issue you're seeing.

(at the heart of the issue is that we're doing host and target builds in one go with cargo, and with fontique we now depend on fontconfig on linux, to be discovered via pkg-config. pkg-config doesn't natively supporting switching between them easily, so we now assume that pkg-config is set up for the target and try to dlopen fontconfig on the build side (slint-compiler))

I can build this successfully.
I can also make it fail by adding this patch in a devtool workspace. This sets the version to slint git with the features: default-features = false, features = ["compat-1-2", "std", "backend-winit-wayland", "renderer-skia-opengl"]
Note that you must add this patch to the recipe for curl-native which is required by skia.

It fails with the same error I get building my own project.

I can reproduce the error with your example. Commit 2dd3da6 solved this issue for the software renderer, and since that's implicitly enabled I never saw the issue you ran into. As a workaround, if you add renderer-software to your features, it should also work. I'll talk to Olivier, perhaps we need to extend the dep:fontique workaround.

Landed #10701 to fix this in a way that shouldn't require the workaround :)
