[FR] Hide Embed Links #347
Description
I, first off, would like to reiterate how much I love the ability to embed stuff directly into the note.
I have a request for a bit more polish, however.
As you know, I tend to bounce between Obsidian and Tangent (I just like a lot of Obsidian's plugins, etc for visualizing and managing my data, but I prefer Tangent's simplicity and low friction for working).
Anyways, in Obsidian, I ran into a note with the embedded video for the first time (again, I just don't normally open them there). And I noticed something: an embedded video in Obsidian hides the link entirely. By that, I mean, the entire line itself is hidden and replaced with the embedded video.
I do like that Tangent at least hides the text for it. A huge step in the right direction. What I'm suggesting is that the line itself is just entirely hidden/removed/replaced by the embedded media itself.
There MIGHT be a more intuitive way to do this on Obsidian (so, don't quote me), but basically what it seems they've done is, if I need to type or modify that line (I want to access it for some reason), I can place my input cursor at the end of the line before it, hit the right arrow, and magically, that line manifests and the embedded content is pushed down one line to make space for the editable line that houses the embed. And then when I move the cursor elsewhere, the line vanishes again.
Anywho. That's that. It's merely polish. It does look nice, though. If you have any more implementation ideas around it, the easiest case might be for you to open something up in Obsidian and investigate it. I think it's pretty straight forward, though. There might be more to it than what I described, but that was my personal experience.
Take care!
