Please hover by mouse on the Reason column of the Connection and show the tooltip. If the Reason contains an "Inherited" text, then you have some other blocked program with selected rules inheritance, which is (grand) parent of the process. Check the parents of the blocked process. |

It says "Program's Action Inherited". This problem didn't start until I switched to your firewall. I had been using Free Firewall, and MP3tag together for years and never had an issue. Your firewall is blocking the Musicbrainz website, see image above, it tells the entire story. Thanks. |

Look at the image I posted above. The parent is allowed. |

Simple. Install MP3tag on your VM and test for your self. Then post back and let me know how I can resolve this. I always allow ALL Windows apps including explorer.exe. I ran into the same problem with another app after installing your firewall but was able to resolve it after finding another executable in the program dir. MP3tag don't have any more.exe files. I checked program data, app data, and the program dir. |

Please show the processes tree for Mp3Tag process in the System Informer - all parents of it. And rule for each parent in the Fort's Programs window. |

You were right my friend! I use your firewall on my VM as well so I did some testing. I ran MP3tag in my VM and had no issues. I installed and ran Process Explorer and found the parent was explorer.exe. I checked for explorer.exe on my host and it was not there in Fort Firewall. So I added both C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe and C:\Windows\explorer.exe to Fort Firewall, rebooted the computer and Mp3tag worked! For troubleshooting purposes I deleted both, and got an alert for C:\Windows\explorer.exe which I kept. Thanks for your help. This firewall has come along ways from when I last tested it. Free Firewall worked good but there hadn't been an update since 2022? Keep up the good work! |
