Context
No changelog exists. Before tagging a beta release, we need a CHANGELOG so users can track what changed between versions.
Task
- Create CHANGELOG.md following Keep a Changelog format
- Backfill notable changes from git history (doesn't need to be exhaustive)
- Include an
[Unreleased] section for ongoing work
