R (replace mode) not supported

Support for R (replace mode) would be lovely. I keep trying to do this from vi/vim muscle memory and getting tripped up when it doesn't work. I know that c* or mouse selection is a workaround, but not nearly as fast for making many changes.

Worth mentioning is that the original developer has moved on and I'm maintaining things in my spare time, so how long it's been a wishlist item is only a small part of how I decide what to work on :)

That said, this is definitely something I want to add when I get a chance. Would be happy to provide guidance if anyone else wants to pick it up, as well.
