At the moment, our "Using the VE" doc section is: * repetitive * janky (all sorts of noisy outputs) * incomplete (missing the data input and output stuff described in #1035) * an odd mix of actual user level (i.e. from the command line) and developer level (creating Python objects). This issue is to review the existing docs in that section and restructure them into something more flowing.
